Yayayayay thanks so much for the tutorial. I heard so many say you need mySQL database for Opensim but once it is downloaded, i had no idea what to do. Thank you so much for this wonderful information. No doubt I will probably be in a new found dilema soon, but this is one hurdle I hope to jump easier.

Absolutely amazing tutorial. Telling everyone I can about it. Thank you for putting it together. I linked to this page from the opensim MySQL configuration page, which has otherwise grown horribly out of date.

Hi Jean,
I don't know if this is your problem, but have you made sure that you created new items under your inventory to edit? If not, it will revert to the library default.

If this isn't it, then I'd have to say check in with the main opensim devs to see if there are any outstanding bugs under this issue.

A useful site to start would be here:

http://www.adamfrisby.com/blog/2008/08/resources-for-running-your-own-opensim/

Contains useful links to opensim resources. Hope that helps!

Thanks to this article I have everything up and running, opensim in gridmode with a MySQL database. The only problem I have is if I edit my appearance, for example my shape, the new uuid is written to the avatarappearance table, but when I click on "save all" the previous uuid values overwrite the newest one. If I enter the new uuid's manually in the avatarappearance table, it works fine. Has anybody experienced this?

[...] For those with a DIY bent, you can host your own regions for approximately $15/month - however some Linux knowledge is required. You can also run your own standalone regions on your own computers - Maxx Monde has written an excellent guide on how to do this. [...]
